At Meredith Village Savings Bank, your privacy and security always come first. We are committed to your safety and protection. Find out how we protect you and how you can protect yourself by recognizing, preventing, and reporting fraudulent activity.

How do we protect your privacy?
Preserving your trust is our top priority. Therefore, we want to you understand what information we collect, how we use and how we protect it. To learn more, review our privacy policy.

How do we protect your security when you bank online?
Meredith Village Savings Bank works hard to ensure the safety and soundness of our customers' information. We utilize the latest technological security methods to provide our customers a secure environment, such as:

  • Encrypting sensitive and personal information. NetBanking, NetPay and eStatements only work with secure browsers using 128-bit encryption technology, which scrambles the information so that only Meredith Village Savings Bank can read it.
  • Requiring User ID and PIN numbers that only you know.
  • Never displaying account numbers, social security numbers or tax ID numbers. We will never call and ask for them or request them by email either.
  • Employing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). In addition to User ID and PIN, MFA adds the security of challenge questions and watermarks. Watermarks are pictures selected by you that are shown prior to entry of your PIN. Using a watermark makes it difficult, if not impossible, for a criminal to accurately copy the site. Your challenge questions will be asked of you anytime you are online and the system notices unusual behavior. This will ensure that the person using your NetBanking or NetPay account really is you!
  • Helping you protect your User ID and PIN. NetBanking does not allow “remember my password” functionality so that others cannot easily access your account from any computer that you’ve used. In addition, if the PIN is entered incorrectly three times, access to the accounts will be blocked. Lastly, you’ll be asked to change your password regularly.
  • Allowing only 10 minutes of inactivity before automatically logging you out. Thus if you unexpectedly leave your computer, others won't have access to your information.

How can you protect yourself?
To help ensure your safety when you bank online, we suggest the following guidelines:

  • Protect your NetBanking PIN and User ID. Your User ID and NetBanking PIN are your keys to NetBanking, NetPay and eStatements. Only you have access to them. Use PINs and IDs that are easy for you to remember, but would be hard for anyone else to guess or figure out. Protect against fraud by never revealing them to anyone – or writing them down. A reasonable guideline is to make sure that you treat them with the same care that you use for your ATM and credit cards and their PIN Numbers. Be sure that the computer you use to access NetBanking is only used by yourself and people you can fully trust, and when you use NetBanking, check that no one can physically see your computer screen or watch you punch in your PIN and User ID. Unfortunately, even computer viruses can be used to capture key strokes, so take appropriate precautions to keep your computer protected from viruses.
  • Use the Logout button. Please click the "Logout" button if you are logged in to NetBanking and have completed your banking session, or are going to be away from your computer for an extended period of time. Logging out will end your session and you will be asked to enter your User ID and PIN before entering the website again. Shutting down your browser is also a good way of preventing others from gaining access to your account. All cookies used in NetBanking are destroyed when you shut down your browser. After a period of inactivity your current NetBanking session on the website will automatically timeout. To restart your session, re-enter your User ID and PIN on the login screen.
  • E-mail. Since email is not a secure form of communication we do not recommend using email to contact MVSB. Our website, www.mvsb.com, has forms that allow you to contact the bank in a secure manner. When using these forms, your information is encrypted, which means it is safe to enter personal information such as account numbers.
  • Be wary of phone calls, emails, websites and pop-up windows that ask for personal information, such as your birth date, social security number, passwords or account numbers. Meredith Village Savings Bank will never ask for this information via any of these methods. Our website address is www.mvsb.com . If an email, advertisement or pop-up directs you to a different address, don’t use it, and contact us as soon as possible.
  • Monitor your statement and transactions. Let us know immediately if you notice an unexpected or erroneous charge on your statement, or while reviewing your transactions online. In addition, if your regular statement doesn’t arrive when you expect it to, contact us as soon as possible.
  • Monitor your credit report. You are entitled to an annual copy of your credit report from the three major credit reporting agencies. To get these, visit www.annualcreditreport.com.
